Churches of Christ was born out of a 19th century international movement often referred to as the Restoration Movement. The heart of this movement was to abandon denominationalism and follow the New Testament and its central priority on Christ. We rally around this simple plea: In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, and in all things love.
The Australian pioneers of Churches of Christ applied this founding identity to an Australian context, forming a lay movement to make Christ-centred communities centred in a local context. Constant shifts in society makes models of disciple-making dynamic and varied, and we find ourselves missionaries in our own backyards. Together we pursue the mission to share the good news of Jesus in ways that make sense for Australian people.

Church Elder – Michael Garnier
Michael has been attending Frankston Church of Christ since 2000 and has been an elder since 2022. He would love to see our church grow back to vibrancy with multiple services, kids and families which is what he experienced when first attending. His name Michael is actually his middle name as he was christened Beverley Michael Garnier. Beverley is a popular boys name in Sri Lanka where Michael was born and his mum named him after the Gospel singer George Beverly Shea who sang on the Billy Graham radio program whom she listened to regularly. Michael came to Australia from Sri Lanka in 1965 at 8 years old and friends and relatives suggested he change his name to Michael. Michael loves ‘being the dad’ and his family consists of his wife Heather and two adult children Sarah and Alexander and two dogs Fifi and Sparky. He loves going to the AFL footy particularly now with Alexander and barracking for Western Bulldogs together. He values spending time with his kids and watching them play or umpire their sports and supporting them with their activities. |

Glenys has been attending FCofC for over 50 years, first attending at the end of 1973, after moving from Chelsea Church of Christ. Her faith in God has encouraged her in worship leading, singing, seeing people come to know God, caring for people in local community, organising functions and camps. With her husband John, her family consists of two sons and their wives, two daughters and their husbands, four grandsons, four granddaughters and five grand-dogs! She enjoys being with her family, close friends and their families, and spending time with each of her grandchildren.
